Our Success: Being Faithful to God

Church front

Joshua 1:7-8 (NIV) 7  Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8  Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

1 Kings 2:3 (NLT)  Observe the requirements of the LORD your God, and follow all his ways. Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go.

1 Chronicles 22:11 (NLT) Now, my son, may the LORD be with you and give you success as you follow his directions. . .

2 Chronicles 20:20 (NLT) “Listen to me, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.”

Mother Teresa of Calcutta once was asked, "How do you measure the success of your work?" She looked puzzled for a moment and then replied, "I don't remember that the Lord ever spoke of success. He spoke only of faithfulness in love. This is the only success that really counts." [Illustrations Unlimited]

You are called not to be successful or to meet the counterfeit standards of this world, but to be faithful and to be expended in the cause of serving the risen and returning Christ. Charles Colson [101 Quotable Christians]
