I recently read an interesting op-ed article in a nation-wide publication by a noted Christian leader who informed us that radical Islamic ideology coupled with the violence of terrorism makes him afraid. Oh, really?--how enlightening and profound! Quite honestly, I would have expected more Christian leadership than that--perhaps he could have offered something that would help us to better understand how God expects us to respond to these fears in adopting our attitudes toward immigration while attending to the needs of the desperate, the weak, the vulnerable and, yes--the foreigner. Let's do exactly that this Sunday and try to better understand our obligations as Christians according to God's Word.
