Sharing the Wonders of Jesus’ Love

Devotions

Romans 2:14-16 (NET1)   For whenever the Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature the things required by the law, these who do not have the law are a law to themselves. They show that the work of the law is written in their hearts, as their conscience bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or else defend them, on the day when God will judge the secrets of human hearts, according to my gospel through Christ Jesus.

The daily devotional entitled From Generation to Generation tells of the amazing advancement of the Aztec empire.  The Aztecs were a people of contrasts.  They loved both beauty and war.  They engaged in human sacrifice and have been referred to as the Assyrians of North America.  Yet, deep down inside, they must have sensed that their way of life was so very cruel and empty.  In this regard, From Generation to Generation tells us:  "The height of the Aztec Empire occurred during the reign of King Netzahualcoyotl who ruled from 1431-1472. He was a warrior and a statesman-philosopher. When he pondered the worship of the Aztec gods he said, 'Verily, the gods that I am adoring, what are they but idols of stone without speech or feeling? They could not have made the beauty of the heaven, the sun, the moon, the stars, which light the earth, with its countless streams, its foundations and waters. There must be some God, invisible and unknown, who is the universal Creator.' The Aztecs had a name for this supreme unknown god: Ipalnemohuani, Giver of Life. In every human heart is the knowledge that there is something or someone greater than himself or herself."

Today, we are called to be sowers of God's Word throughout our communities and the world.  There are so many who would come to Christ but for the fact that we have not yet shared with them the wonders of His love.
