An obeying heart

Deuteronomy 5:24, 27-29 (TLB) 24  … Now we know that a man may speak to God and not die… 27  You go and listen to all that God says, then come and tell us, and we will listen and obey. 28  And the Lord agreed to your request and said to me, “I have heard what the people have said to you, and I agree. 29  Oh, that they would always have such a heart for me, wanting to obey my commandments. Then all would go well with them in the future, and with their children throughout all generations!”

Philippians 2:12-13 (TLB) 12  Dearest friends, when I was there with you, you were always so careful to follow my instructions. And now that I am away you must be even more careful to do the good things that result from being saved, obeying God with deep reverence, shrinking back from all that might displease him. 13  For God is at work within you, helping you want to obey him, and then helping you do what he wants.

John 15:10 (TLB) 10  When you obey me you are living in my love, just as I obey my Father and live in his love.

1 John 2:17 (TLB) 17  And this world is fading away, and these evil, forbidden things will go with it, but whoever keeps doing the will of God will live forever.

Faith and obedience are bound up in the same bundle. He that obeys God, trusts God; and he that trusts God, obeys God.  Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) Draper's Book of Quotations for the Christian World.
