God Himself Became a Man

Nativity Dore

John 1:1 (NET1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God.

John 1:14 (NET1) Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory — the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father.

Galatians 4:4-6 (NET1) 4  But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5  to redeem those who were under the law, so that we may be adopted as sons with full rights. 6  And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who calls “Abba! Father!”

Philippians 2:6-8 (NET1) 6  [Jesus] though he existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped, 7  but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, by looking like other men, and by sharing in human nature. 8  He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death — even death on a cross!

God Himself became a Man to give us a concrete, definite, tangible idea of what to think of when we think of God.  Henry Halley (101 Quotable Christians)
