Beauty

Autumn

Isaiah 4:2 (NIV) In that day the Branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel.

1 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV) 3  Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4  Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.

Matthew 6:28-30 (NIV) 28  "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Beauty is God's handwriting—a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing.  Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) Draper's Book of Quotations for the Christian World.
