Our Refuge in Difficult Times

Christ the Comforter

Psalm 34:17-20 (TLB) 17  Yes, the Lord hears the good man when he calls to him for help and saves him out of all his troubles. 18  The Lord is close to those whose hearts are breaking; he rescues those who are humbly sorry for their sins. 19  The good man does not escape all troubles—he has them too. But the Lord helps him in each and every one. 20  Not one of his bones is broken.

Nahum 1:7 (NIV) The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. . .

John 16:33 (NIV) "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

2 Timothy 4:18 (NIV) The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

“Difficulties are God's errands and when we are sent upon them we should consider it proof of God's confidence, as a compliment of God.” Henry Ward Beecher (1813-1887) Draper's Book of Quotations for the Christian World.
