Bearing the Cross & Denying One’s Self

Crosses websized

Mark 10:21 (NKJV)  Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me."

Luke 9:23-25 (NKJV)  23  Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24  For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25  For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?

Luke 14:27-30 (NKJV) 27  And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28  For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it-- 29  lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30  saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.'

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:  The more a man denies himself, the more shall he obtain from God.  Horace Bushnell (1802-1876) (Draper's Book of Quotations for the Christian World)
