True Boldness in Christ

Ephesians 3:11-12 (NKJV) 11  . . according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12  in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

Hebrews 4:16 (NASB) Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

1 John 4:17 (TEV) Love is made perfect in us in order that we may have courage on the Judgment Day; and we will have it because our life in this world is the same as Christ's.

There is a false boldness for Christ that only comes from pride. A man may rashly expose himself to the world's dislike and even deliberately provoke its displeasure, and yet do so out of pride... True boldness for Christ transcends all, it is indifferent to the displeasure of either friends or foes. Boldness enables Christians to forsake all rather than Christ, and to prefer to offend all rather than to offend Him. —Jonathan Edwards in Religious Affections.
