The Light of Christ through the Word of God

Devotions

Joshua 1:8 (NIV) Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Hebrews 4:12 (GW)  God's word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet, the place where joints and marrow meet. God's word judges a person's thoughts and intentions.

Hebrews 6:4-6 (NIV) 4  It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5  who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6  if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

2 Timothy 3:15 (NIV) . . . and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:16 (NIV) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

D. L. Moody once wrote: “When I was in Baltimore last, my window looked out on a Church. The stained glass windows were dull and uninviting by day; but when the lights shone through at night, how beautiful they were!  So when the Holy Spirit touches the eyes of your understanding, and you see Christ shining through the pages of the Bible, it becomes a new book to you.”  D. L. Moody (Anecdotes, Incidents and Illustrations.)
