Excuses, excuses

Romans 1:18-20 (NASB) 18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19  because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

Romans 2:1-2 (NASB) 1  Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2  And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things.

Matthew 25:24-28 (NASB) 24  "And the one also who had received the one talent came up and said, 'Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed. 25  'And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.' 26  "But his master answered and said to him, 'You wicked, lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed. 27  'Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. 28  'Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.'

Lord, forgive us when we make excuses for our failure to honor You and when we fail to use the gifts that You have given us to the benefit of Your Kingdom.  Amen.
