Blessed are the meek

Proverbs 15:1 (TLB) A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words cause quarrels.

Psalm 37:11 (TLB)  But all who humble themselves before the Lord shall be given every blessing and shall have wonderful peace.

Psalm 149:4 (NIV) For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation.

Matthew 5:5 (NIV) Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Meek endurance and meek obedience, the accepting of his dealings, of whatever complexion they are and however they may tear and desolate our hearts, without murmuring, without sulking, without rebellion or resistance, is the deepest conception of the meekness that Christ pronounced blessed.   Alexander Maclaren (1826-1910)

Meek—what does it mean? The answer lies in the word itself:

M—Mighty,

E—Emotionally stable,

E—Educable,

K—Kind.
