Kindness Is Important

Good Samaritan

When Henry James, the great old fuddy-duddy and American novelist, was saying good-by once to his young nephew, Billy, son of his brother William, he said something the boy never forgot. Of all the fancy, labyrinthine, impenetrable things that fancy, labyrinthine, impenetrable old novelist could have said, what he did say to Billy, or Willie as he called him, is this: "Willie, there are three things that are important in human life. The first is to be kind. The second is to be kind. The third is to be kind."

1 Peter 2:1-3 (NKJV) 1  Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2  as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3  if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)  But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Colossians 3:12-13 (NKJV) 12  Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13  bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV)  And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
