Salt of the Earth (not the pepper)

One afternoon, my four-year-old niece Paige and my six-year-old daughter Ashley started an argument, which grew louder and louder. I was about to intervene when my daughter stormed down the stairs. "Mom," she yelled, "Jesus wants us to be the salt of the earth and Paige is being the pepper!"

Matthew 5:13-16 (NIV) 13  "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. 14  "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Matthew 18:15-17 (NIV) 15  "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. 16  But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.' 17  If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

Ephesians 4:31 (NIV) 31  Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
