Take Care

Good Samaritan

GOD’S PEOPLE SHOULD CARE FOR THE NEEDY: Luke 14:12-14 (NIV) 12  Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13  But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14  and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

GOD CARES FOR HIS CHILDREN: Romans 1:5-7 (NIV) 5  Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. 6  And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ. 7  To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

TREAT PARENTS WITH CARE: Ephesians 6:2-3 (NIV) 2  "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise-- 3  "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

TREAT CO-WORKERS WITH CARE: Colossians 4:1 (TLB)  You slave owners must be just and fair to all your slaves. Always remember that you, too, have a Master in heaven who is closely watching you.

CARE FOR THE ELDERLY: 1 Timothy 5:1-5 (TLB) 1  Never speak sharply to an older man, but plead with him respectfully just as though he were your own father. Talk to the younger men as you would to much-loved brothers. 2  Treat the older women as mothers, and the girls as your sisters, thinking only pure thoughts about them. 3  The church should take loving care of women whose husbands have died if they don’t have anyone else to help them. 4  But if they have children or grandchildren, these are the ones who should take the responsibility, for kindness should begin at home, supporting needy parents. This is something that pleases God very much. 5  The church should care for widows who are poor and alone in the world if they are looking to God for his help and spending much time in prayer.
