Placing our confidence in Jesus Christ

Joshua 1:9 (NIV)  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

1 Samuel 17:32-37 (NIV) 32  David said to Saul, "Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him." 33  Saul replied, "You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a boy, and he has been a fighting man from his youth." 34  But David said to Saul, "Your servant has been keeping his father's sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, 35  I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. 36  Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37  The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." Saul said to David, "Go, and the LORD be with you."

Job 42:2 (NIV)  "I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.

Psalm 20:7 (NIV)  Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

Psalm 118:6-9 (NIV) 6  The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? 7  The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies. 8  It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. 9  It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Our confidence in Christ does not make us lazy, negligent, or careless, but, on the contrary, it awakens us, urges us on, and makes us active in living righteous lives and doing good. There is no self-confidence to compare with this.  Ulrich Zwingli (1484-1531) Draper's Book of Quotations for the Christian World.
