1 Timothy 6:17-18 (NIV) 17  Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18  Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

Isaiah 58:7-8 (NIV) 7  Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter-- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8  Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

Psalm 41:1-2 (NIV) 1

Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble. 2  The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.

Mark 10:21 (NIV) 21  Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
