Discernment

Deuteronomy 4:6 (NLT) Obey them completely, and you will display your wisdom and intelligence among the surrounding nations. When they hear all these decrees, they will exclaim, ‘How wise and prudent are the people of this great nation!’

1 Kings 4:29 (NLT) God gave Solomon very great wisdom and understanding, and knowledge as vast as the sands of the seashore.

1 Corinthians 12:10 (NLT) He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said.

When we discern that people are not going on spiritually and allow the discernment to turn to criticism, we block our way to God. God never gives us discernment in order that we may criticize, but that we may intercede. —Oswald Chambers
