Self-discipline

Proverbs 3:11-12 (NIV) 11  My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, 12  because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

2 Peter 1:5-7 (NIV) 5  For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6  and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7  and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.

When the Chicago Bears were at a peak in the mid 1980s, winning the Super Bowl in 1986, we had an unbeatable defense not only because of the talent of the players but because we all carried out our given assignments. We didn't freelance. We didn't take a day off. We had a plan to execute, and we stuck with it. We demonstrated self-discipline. —Mike Singletary. Men of Integrity
