Defend the defenseless

Defend the defenseless

Jesus not throw stone

Soon after my sister's husband died, she and her 4-year-old son, Tim, came to visit us. Tim, who had a large vocabulary for a child his age, and my 3-year-old son Charles, were buddies—but also competitors. As we traveled in the car one day with the boys in the back seat, Tim said, "There's a new word to call my mom. Bet ya don't know what it is. She's a widow." Charles, not wanting to be outdone, puffed himself up and replied, "That's nothin', my mom's always been a weirdo!"

James 1:27 (CEB)  True devotion, the kind that is pure and faultless before God the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their difficulties and to keep the world from contaminating us.
